In 1849 Governor-General Narciso Clavería ordered that families without fixed surnames take one from this book, about 61,000 names, Spanish and native, sent to every province.
This is a recreation, not a scan: every page is set in type from an open, machine-read transcription of the National Archives of the Philippines' 1973 reprint, as digitized by the Filipinas Heritage Library. Each name keeps its column and line from the scanned page. Some readings are uncertain, and a few pages are missing from the only scan online.
